Keep the money generated from the lottery sales separate from the money generated from other sales. Do an inventory of your instant tickets at the start of the day. Then do another inventory of your tickets at the end of the day (or at the end of the shift of the cashier assigned to the instant tickets). Doing a beginning and ending inventories will tell you exactly how many tickets were sold and how much money should be in the lottery drawer. </p> <p>A store video camera might also be helpful. </p> <p>Also, it is extremely important that you assign only one employees per cash register. Our biggest issue currently is drawer control. We have a small convenience store/deli with approximately 6 employees during our busiest time. I am looking for advice on how to best manage the drawer because so many are using it. We have begun starting at a set amount and counting at the end of the day but it seems to be difficult.
